The Fun Run Season

Hello again from your Fun Run Chair. We would like to continue our efforts to fill the Fun Run Calendar to allow UCR members to enjoy both their Porsches and the great people of UCR.

I am issuing an invitation to all Fun Run participants to think about hosting a Fun Run in 2008. The Fun Run Calendar is pretty much wide open for you to pick a date for your run.  So check your calendars and pencil us in! There are three Fun Runs scheduled so far this year.

Outside of our scheduled calendar events, John Adam, our Event Chair has issued an invitation to attend a Fun Run and Wine Tasting on Sunday August 17th 2008, to be held at Legends Estate Winery in Beamsville. The idea is to invite a couple of participants from our own area and organize your Fun Run to the Winery. Hopefully you will respond to this invitation accordingly. We have four starting points, Aberfoyle, Brantford, Oakville and Peterborough. As a participant, you already know what a Fun Run consists of and how much enjoyment it provides. As a host, you will have to lay out a route and run it at least once before taking a group of twelve Porsches on that same run. If you have not hosted a Fun Run you will discover that planning and driving the route prior to the actual run is as much fun as the official run with other UCR members. Let’s be honest, do we ever get tired of taking out our Porsche?

More on Fun Runs...

A 'Fun Run' is a Saturday or Sunday drive with 8 to 10 fellow Porsches, lasting 2 to 4 hours. We all have our favourite roads in our own area that are interesting and now this is your opportunity to share these roads with the rest of UCR.

What we need from you is the starting point and three possible dates that you are available to lead the pack on your route. We need three dates to help avoid conflicts in the scheduling of these 'Fun Runs'. You just have to lead the 8 to 10 Porsches on your favourite route. Your start and end points for the route are entirely up to you.

You may choose to start at a coffee shop or plaza and end at a specified place for brunch, or at a museum or even your own back yard for a BBQ. It's your call. It is also your call as to how many cars you are willing to have participate. However, we suggest 8 to 10 cars, because it is more manageable.

UCR is a large region and encompasses a large geographical area, having members in Windsor, London, Kitchener-Waterloo, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Muskoka, Peterborough and the Greater Toronto Area. The intent of the 'Fun Run' events is to have many small enjoyable drives with fellow UCR members in a variety of locations in our region. I think this could be fun!

Important: To participate in a Fun Run, you must contact the hosting member ASAP. Fun Runs have generally been FULL to capacity. Join a Run and enjoy our region.
