I lost the red plastic "Panic Button" on my 2008 Cayenne key fob/Remote. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement button?

Thanks,

Found a site in China that supplies them for $1.34 a piece with a minimum order of 5 pieces. Pfaff parts counter says most Cayenne owners loose this little red button but Porsche doesn't sell it separately.

RE:2008 Cayenne Key Fob Red Button Replacement
Way to go. I think the end of the world will be due to the failure of a 5 cent piece of plastic. I had an alternator go this way, and almost a distributer. The distributor was saved by buying a 90 dollar piece, and taking the plastic bit from it.

A little bit of research can go a long way. Some 30 years ago, we broke the knob off the plastic faucet from our Westfalia's tap. VW wanted $450 (!!) for the piece. I looked at the back. It was made in the US. I called the manufacturer and was able to buy as many as I wanted for $37.

Winter tire size for 986
Winter tires 986

Hello, need some help with the correct size for 986 winter tires. The car came new with 18 inch rims and has never be driven in the snow. I recently purchased some rims off another PCA member – 17 inch boxster 986 rims but the tires are to old (2001 and 2003). He had 205/50/17 on the front and 255/40/17 on the rear but he had them on a 987. I was just told that the 987 and 986 had different tire size but when I called Porsche they could not tell me the ideal size for a winter tire for a 17 inch OEM Boxster wheel. Any suggestions. Also, does anyone know if I will need spacers when I go from a 18 down to a 17.

Thanks

If the wheels are Porsche Original Equipment, you should not need spacers. The tire sizes are correct for winter tires: 205/50R17 front and 255/40/17 rear, but Porsche also suggests an alternative for the rear: 225/45R17. I f you are planning to drive your Boxster in snow, I would recommend this option: I experienced serious loss of traction in snow with the 255/40/17 in the rear of my Boxster and feel that narrower tires would have been better. Have fun this winter!

Thank you

I spoke to some at a tire shop and the suggested 225/45/17 all around, front a rear. Do you think this is a good idea?

Porsche does not recommend 225/45R17 for the front. Click on the link below, select "Overview winter tires 996/986", scroll down to the second page (for 986) and take a look at the tire recommendation for 17-inch wheels.

I ran 205/50R17 winter tires in the front of my Boxster and had no issue.

Any Acoustic Experts Out There?
I'm looking to add a catalytic converter in front of a muffler that was not designed to be run with a cat. It will be a small racing style cat. My question is, and I could not find this anywhere on the internet, what will this do to the sound?

I expect it will be quieter with the cat, which is find by me, but what frequencies are most affected - low or high? The passages thru a catalytic converter are about 1 or 2 mm square.

DISCHARGED BATTERY
I own a 2006 C4S, and have some electrical issues. The latest, after retuning from a 3 week vacation my battery was completly discharged.
Does anyone have a comment, could this be normal because of computer activity, and solved by the use of a battery tender, or do I need to investigate futher?

3 weeks seems a bit fast. Have a look at this article: http://www.popularmechanics.com/cars/how-to/repair/how-to-stop-car-battery-drains
