For those of you who have never been to a track event, and always wondered about what we actually do, we have a program for you. Just because you haven’t bought a helmet, fire extinguisher, had a tech inspection or even picked your next car yet, doesn’t mean that we aren’t Your Track Team too. We offer you, “The Track Sampler”. All you need is a PCA membership and twenty bucks and we’ll give you a half-day DE experience!
You’ll start off by registering via e-mail/fax in advance for the program. You’ll arrive at the track bright and early with the rest of us, meet the Registrars and clear theregistration desk, talk to our Tech Chief and see how the tech line works. Share free coffee and donuts with sleepy drivers of all levels. You’ll attend the Driver’s Meeting at the tower and be assigned a fun “Work Assignment” where you’ll spend time with DE students from each run group. You’ll meet the Chief Instructor and be provided with a loaner helmet. Then, when your appointed time comes, you’ll meet your DE instructor at his car. You’ll be strapped in and taken out onto the active track as a passenger for a full run in an instructed run group. The instructor will talk you through the basics of car control, answer your questions and generally give you a window into the DE program at moderate speeds.
Later you can join us for lunch, then tour the paddock and get a look at everyone’s toys. As long as you stay inside the fence line you can wander from corner to corner and watch the cars move through at speed, hang out with the volunteers at staging or jump in your car and head home. It’s all your choice. If you’ve ever wondered if the DE program is for you, this is an opportunity to check it out without any investment on your part.
