This year, we maintain our UCR tradition of hosting our February Social at a restaurant specializing in Chinese cuisine, in honour of the Chinese New Year. The upcoming one falls on February 14, which as you know is also Valentine’s Day. Celebrate two holidays in one this February 14: Give your special someone a gift-wrapped package of fried won tons, egg roll, two chopsticks and a paper fan. You’d best wear your crash helmet and running shoes if you do that, you’ll learn for yourself why they call it the Year of the Tiger.

We’re gathering this evening at The Mandarin Restaurant on Queen’s Plate Drive. This location is handy to our west end constituency, so we hope to see many of them there this evening. UCR regulars know to eat very lightly for at least a day before coming to The Mandarin, ‘cause it’s an all-you can eat buffet. The food is very good, the prices are a bargain, and the company will be scintillating. Don’t miss it.
