This very special evening will start with a complimentary wine and beer reception at 7:00pm. We’ll have Steam Whistle beer on tap and there will be numerous Hors d’oeuvres to whet your appetite. This will be followed by a three-course, table service dinner starting at 7:30pm, with a cash bar available for the rest of the evening.

Live dancing music will be provided after dinner by The Neckties, a 5 member band based in Don Mills. This group has performed for charities, corporations and associations for over 20 years and is the perfect group to help us to party for our 35th. They are very customer-oriented and they play material that their audience can relate to.  After the dessert course, we’ll open up the dance floor and The Neckties will entertain us with their best songs to get everyone up and dancing.

A block of rooms has been set-aside for our Porsche Club. Please make your reservations directly with Westin Reservations at 1-800-325-3535. Please state that you’re attending the PCA/UCR 35th Anniversary Gala or just mention the words Upper Canada Region, UCR Porsche Club or Porsche Club.

The highlight of this evening will be the sharing of a truly unique Porsche Experience. We will be honoured to have three special guests. Toronto Star Columnist Lorraine Sommerfeld, mechanic Aaron Prevost and our own Rick Bye will be our guest speakers to describe in more detail some very unique track rides in a Porsche Boxster at Mosport in 2011. This is a feel-good story that you’ll surely want to hear about in person. We’ve also pleased to have Joe Lawrence, President of Porsche Cars Canada. Joe will update us on all the recent developments at Porsche.

We’ve also sent out 35th Anniversary Gala invitations to all club Past Presidents as well as to all long-term (5-35 year) UCR members. We mailed out over 200 invitations and we plan to award special award certificates to any of these individuals who are in the audience to help us celebrate UCR’s 35th.

Our venue, the Toronto Westin Harbour Castle Hotel is near Yonge and Queens’s Quay, with easy on/off access to the Gardiner expressway. You can also get there by TTC or GO Train.

Wine Tours

E-mail Print PDF

Operating on the premise that some of our best southern Ontario scenery runs through wine country, our club occasionally designs driving tours that take advantage of this. Sometimes working alone and at other times with a local wine club, we have a destination that provides insight into this natural resource.

Osler Bluff Ski Club

Thurs March 1st, 2012

We’ve picked the date and have a beautiful sunny day on order for the 2012 UCR Ski Day. Join us for the highlight of the UCR winter calendar on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at the Osler Bluff Ski Club in beautiful Collingwood and start shaking off the winter blues.

This private ski club (www.oslerbluff.com) is ideally situated for optimal natural snow and its 743 feet of vertical drop rates among the best in Ontario. The natural ski terrain provides some of the longest and most scenic trails for every level of skier, from beginner to expert.

Your hosts for this year’s event are Don Lewtas ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) and Phil Downe ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ). All UCR members, their family and friends are invited to join us for the day. The ski-lift ticket cost will be $62.00 per person to be paid upon arrival at the Main Clubhouse where you will turn in a waiver (attached) and pick up your ticket. Any persons under 18 years of age will require the waiver to be signed by a parent.

The Main Clubhouse with its panoramic view of the slopes offers a-la-carte food service for both breakfast and lunch or you can bring your own. Then, after a full day on the hill everyone is welcome to the aprés-ski, wine and cheese social hosted by Don Lewtas and Barbara Mitton at their chalet nearby.

Need some gear? No problem! Squire John’s is right on site with a full range of ski, snowboard and safety equipment but you’ll have to make arrangements in advance, (see attached). Have a non-skier in the group? No problem! The Scandinave Spa Blue Mountain is just a few minutes down the road and a day pass also makes a nice stocking-stuffer. They also require bookings in advance.

Everything you need to know is right here in the  waiver, so please contact either Don or myself at the email addresses above to register, or let us know if you need any further information.

Fun Runs

E-mail Print PDF

What is a Fun Run?

A Fun Run is a Saturday or Sunday drive with 10 to 15 fellow Porsches, lasting 4 to 6 hours. Posted on the Web Site Calendar and in Provinz. There is no cost to participate in a Fun Run.

Hosting a Fun Run

We all have our favourite roads in our own area that are interesting and now this is your opportunity to share these roads with the rest of UCR.

What we need from you is the starting point and three possible dates that you are available to lead the pack on your route. We need three dates to help avoid conflicts in the scheduling of these 'Fun Runs'. You just have to lead the 10 to 15 Porsches on your favourite route. Your start and end points for the route are entirely up to you.

You may choose to start at a coffee shop or plaza and end at a specified place for brunch, or at a museum or even your own back yard for a BBQ. It's your call. It is also your call as to how many cars you are willing to have participate. However, we suggest 10 to 15 cars, because it is more manageable.
UCR is a large region and encompasses a large geographical area, having members in Windsor, London, Kitchener-Waterloo, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Muskoka, Peterborough and the Greater Toronto Area. The intent of the 'Fun Run' events is to have many small enjoyable drives with fellow UCR members in a variety of locations in our region. I think this could be fun!

Contact me (David Forbes- Fun Run Chair) to get your Fun Run organized and recorded in our calendar This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , or telephone me (705)788-8828 Happy to provide Fun Run in a box , sample routes , waivers and everything you need

Important: To participate in a Fun Run, you must contact the hosting member ASAP. Fun Runs have generally been FULL to capacity. Join a Run and enjoy our region.

Monthly Socials

E-mail Print PDF

Welcome to your Monthly Socials page. 2012 marks my second year as Socials Chair and what a fantastic year its been. By years end 2011, my goal of increasing attendance has proved successful and we are regularly hosting numbers of 80+ members per event, with the highest attendance recorded totalling 160 guests.  Although this makes for a great inaugural year, my plans for 2012 are greater still. In order to maintain this momentum I am implementing an RSVP practice which will assist me in securing suitable locations for future events. Ideally, 7 days prior is ample time to allow for proper planning. If you haven’t had the opportunity to attend an event lately, I welcome you to join us in 2012 and see for yourself how enjoyable they are. Socials, by their very nature, are a place for people to gather, discuss, and socialize. I thank those of you who   have shared your comments and suggestions to make these monthly events interesting to you personally, and I encourage your continued feedback which will allow me to build on the success of 2011. Looking forward to seeing you at our upcoming social.

UCR Monthly Socials are held on the second Tuesday of each month. Venues vary and will be updated on both the UCR web calendar (www.pcaucr.org) and in Provinz magazine Meet and greet your fellow members starting at 6:30p.m. Dinner is scheduled to begin between 7:00-7:30p.m., followed by our guest speaker for the evening.
