RE:Sumitomo tires
I purchased a set of HTR Z's here last summer and was very pleased with the service and the price was right.

Best Detailer ?
Anyone know who's the best person to go to to get their cars detailed. I just picked up my new (to me) 997S from Pfaff this week and I'd really like a proper detail job done before I start driving it.

I live in Markham, if that helps at all.

RE:Best Detailer ?
We have probably one of the best detailers in town - his name is Mark and he can come to your place if necessary. Otherwise you can drop off the car here with us and we will have him come do it here.
I posted some pictures on our public facebook site recently of a black 997 GT3 that he detailed. Looked better than new...Ilker @ SportsCarBoutique -

RE:Best Detailer ?
Well, as with all things subjective I can only give my opinion but the guys at Pfaff do a fine job. I get mine detailed there all the time. Go talk to Jason Meise at the service desk and he will take care of you. I am a bit of a neat freak so I get my car done about four times a year. People tell me the interior is flawless.

Now then, for something more involved, there is Josh Spagnol at the Pfaff autoworks who can do a full three stage polish. I have my car there right now. I figured a polish would really be nice. It will get rid of all the scuff marks from cleaning.

I just emailed Josh this morning and he said :

> I could most likely squeeze in a single stage polish for you. This
would get rid of any wash mitt marks and haze. It would offer a better protection to your clear coat.
>
> Typically there are 3 stages of polishing.

> 1 Single stage
> 2 Compound and Polish
> 3 Wet sand (3000 grit) and Polish
>
> The single stage is our best option.

You can email him at "Josh Spagnol" jspagnol at pfaffautoworks.com and ask questions.

So there you have it. I have no issues with the Pfaff guys and really I don't bother with a $50 difference here or there. Josh is probably the best around with a full detail cleaning with a polish. If you want I can wait until he is done and then post an update.

Brake Cleaner Spray Warning
I have been using Brake Cleaner spray for difficult degreasing jobs around the car. The brand I was using is by 'Gunk', and is sold by Canadian Tire.

I was pretty shocked when the stuff from the new can I bought was bleaching/removing paint! Closer inspection of the can said 'new and improved' and 'chlorinated'. A comparison with an old can showed the same product number.

If you are using brake cleaner spray, check the ingredients on every can you buy.

RE:Brake Cleaner Spray Warning
I have successfully used the "kleen Flo" brand of brake clean and only the one in the blue can, original formula (see pic enclosed). This is the only one I have used that does not negatively affect paint, plastics, rubber, floor sealers and even clothing. As Otto says always check on aa small out of the way area before using this stuff.

Just as Yarko has siad. That brand is safe. You want to find a brake cleaner that is "non chloronated", there are others out there and it will typically be advertised and easy to read on the can.

Meyle HD 1965-1989 911/912 Engine/Trans. Mounts
I was researching the Meyle website for some Heavy Duty replacement parts for a BMW, when I saw a listing for Porsche 911/912 engine mounts. Meyle HD has a listing of various failure-prone/'consumable' parts that they've re-engineered, and a PDF tech sheet describing the differences between the OE part and the Meyle HD part. They make parts for various German auto manufacturers, or even some American manufacturers building cars in Germany.

For those in the market for replacements, or that are just curious, please refer to the following link to the Meyle HD website: http://www.meyle.com/EN/Service/Downloads/MEYLE-HD-product-information.html

On page 2, dated 2011/01 and listed as Engine Mounts you'll see the Porsche 911/912 application---these apply for Porsche (part number) 911 375 043 00 engine mounts and the Porsche 'Sport' (p/n) 911 375 043 07 engine mounts. The Meyle HD replacement part number is 414 375 0002/HD.
